On March 7, 2015, Jasper Middle School choir students and choir students from surroundings schools joined together to perform in Circle the State With Song. Circle the State With Song is a one day event. Each student received a folder/binder before the CSWS so that they could practice the songs on their own using the IMEA website. They sang their hearts out from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. The kids that were in CSWS practiced all day and performed for their family and friends at 4:00 that afternoon. They had a few breaks and got to have a lunch break as well. They sang Artza Alina, Under Winter Moon, Old Joe Clark, Puttin On the Ritz, Ride the Chariot, Aurora Borealis, and Song for Unsung Hero. The conductor for CSWS was Dr. Beau Cannon and the piano accompanist was Emma Mundy. All of the kids that participated in the CSWS looked like they were having a blast. It was a great day! Art club was amazing! On Wednesday, November 12th, in art club, we got our colored pencils and pens out and designed t-shirts! Mrs. Spencer passed out papers that had a blank canvas, with a white t-shirt on it. Then we all drew our own design for the club shirts. I can’t wait to see what t-shirt will be chosen next meeting! (Although, no ones is the best, we are all equally good!) Mrs. Spencer also looked at some of the students sketchbooks, to see what they draw at home. Let’s all thank Mrs. Spencer for taking time out of her day for us to become better artists. I wonder who will win for best shirt idea, and, well, may the odds be ever in your favor! Proofread by: Claire Witte There was a sixth grade band concert on November 24, 2014. I asked the sixth grade band students if they were excited or not and why, here is what they said, Grant who plays trumpet said, “Yes, because this is our first concert and I think the band will sound good.” Seth who plays trumpet said, “Yes, because I have practiced a lot and I’m ready to play.” Lydia who plays percussion said, “Yes, because I have solos with drums.” Ella who plays clarinet said, “Yes, because it’s my first time doing a concert.” Madison who plays flute said, “Yes, because it allows us to show how we’ve improved from not being able to play a note to playing these sounds.” Grace who plays flute said, “Yes, it’s a chance for the parents to see how far we’ve come.” Claire who plays french horn said, “Absolutely, because we as new 6th graders get a chance to shine and show what we learned.” The concert was a big success and everybody loved it! Proofread by:Claire Witte There was a Toys for Tots drive at JMS and it was definitely a big success. I decided to ask some of the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes to see what they thought about the Toys for Tots drive and why they thought it is important and here’s what they said: 6th Grade Ms.Weyer Its a great way to spread holiday cheer. 7th Grade Mrs.Quade Kids can have a good Christmas. 8th Grade Mrs.Young Helps underprivileged families. As you can see the Toys for Tots drive was a big success. The overall winner for the school was Ms.Weyer’s class. |
